At the SPS/IPC/DRIVES 2004 exhibition, PMA Prozeß- und Maschinen-Automation GmbH, in Kassel,
Germany introduced a soft controller integrated into PMA's Soft PLC, which offers
the same functionality as PMA's established BluePort® controllers. "With this step, we offer
our customers a universal PMA controller, which includes the familiar projecting tools of
our Soft PLC", says Carsten Bunk, head of PC-based Automation.
The user is able to integrate the controller easily into his PLC project as a function module according to IEC 61131-3, with an automatic display of operating dialogs on the Soft PLC's screen, plus an interface for parameter setting. Controller functions are configured by means of PMA's BlueControl® Engineering Tool. Wolfgang Baedt, head of Product Management and Development, explains the advantages of PMA's offer: "We have created a practical Engineering Tool for all controller formats. Whether for panel-mounted BluePort® devices such as the KS 40-1, for rail-mounted equipment like the KS 45 rail line module, for multi-zone controllers with KS vario and KS 800, and now for the our Soft PLC with Soft PMA controllers: The controller type and its range of functions are configured in a standard format. In this way, PMA permits the flexible use of available controller functions in all application areas".
