Precision in a compact format

At the SPS/IPC/DRIVES 2003 exhibition in Nuremberg, PMA Prozeß- and Maschinen-Automation in Kassel introduces a new range of high-quality, rail-mounted equipment, the PMA rail line. The first units to be presented from the range are the UNIFLEX CI 45 rail line transmitters for universal application. They feature an extremely compact housing with a width of only 22,5 mm. Field signal connections are made via removable terminal strips.
The high-resolution (>15 bits) and fast scanning (100 ms) universal input permits the direct connection of temperature (TC, RTD), resistance, current, and voltage (V, mV - also high-impedance) signals. Furthermore, a second universal input as well as direct connection options for O2 sensors, frequencies, and counter functions are available. Two alarm relays can be used in parallel with the galvanically isolated, high-res U/I analog output.
The convenient and reliable 3-key operation, and a multi-line LC display - now also with individual display of engineering units - provide comprehensive user access to the process. In-depth configuration from a PC is made particularly simple by the BluePort front interface and the BlueControl Oprogramowanie package.
Equally worth mentioning is the additional RS 485 port for direct, cable-free bus communication with other rail line devices via clip-on rail terminals. Field bus couplers will be provided for the most common systems such as PROFIBUS, CANbus, Ethernet, etc., thus enabling cost-effective links between rail line devices and Ply's, IPCs, and operating terminals.
Also introduced at the exhibition, using the same compact housing, and with corresponding technical specifications, are the new TB 45 temperature limiters, and the universal KS 45 controllers from the rail line family.
Thanks to their stand-alone and comprehensive functions, the decentrally installable PMA rail line units take over many routine tasks from the PLC and/or IPC (independent of make), e.g. precise and fast analog signal processing. Compared with conventional equipment, significant reductions of installation and wiring costs are achievable with PMA's rail line modules. Thus PMA offers another range of intelligent equipment for decentralized automation.
